About AlSur Foundation

Dr. Ezequiel Barbenza is an economist and public policy specialist committed to social justice, labor rights, and inclusive development across Latin America. With over 15 years of experience in government, academia, and international cooperation, he founded the ALSUR Foundation to support grassroots solutions to inequality, especially among women, workers, and rural communities.

Originally from Buenos Aires, Ezequiel earned his PhD in Economics from the Université d'Évry Val-d'Essonne in France, where he focused on macroeconomic volatility, informality, and inequality in Latin America. He has served in various leadership roles in Argentina's Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Agriculture, and has worked as a consultant for organizations such as the ILO, World Bank, FAO, and OAS.

Under his leadership, ALSUR has developed innovative programs at the intersection of economic inclusion, labor formalization, and territorial development. The foundation builds bridges between social movements, trade unions, governments, and international institutions, with a focus on listening to communities and scaling what already works.

Ezequiel is also a university lecturer and researcher, with experience teaching in Argentina and France. He is widely recognized for his ability to combine rigorous economic analysis with a deep understanding of real-world challenges.

He currently lives in Buenos Aires and divides his time between teaching, research, and fieldwork with organized communities throughout the country.
